A woman with a 28-day cycle should start testing her urine on day nine or ten after the start of her period so she doesn't miss her surge.

Stay Healthy

Being overweight can cause a hormonal imbalance in you and may lead you to have irregular periods, which means that you are not ovulating regularly. You should eat a balanced diet and avoid carbs. You should turn to eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. You also need to take vitamin and mineral supplementation, especially Vitamins C, E and folic acid. These vitamins are anti-oxidants that get rid of free radicals in your body. You have to exercise to keep in shape. You and your partner should engage in sports, outdoor activities or aerobic exercise. Both of you should be healthy so that you can increase your chances of conception.

Stop smoking

Smoking makes you and your partner infertile. Smoking gives your body free radicals and toxins that may accumulate in your blood and which you may pass on to your baby. Smoking also restricts your baby's growth and development because it restricts blood flow to the uterus. You should also stop taking coffee because it makes you excrete important vitamins and minerals needed by you and your baby. Also, you must avoid alcohol by all means because it also makes you throw away important nutrients you and your baby may need and it can cause congenital malformations in your baby.
